Having sex vs. Making love—what’s the difference?

While we use the terms almost interchangeably, there’s a big difference between the two. Having sex is the physical act of intercourse whereas making love is a beautiful expression of the love that exists between husband and wife.

And yes, we do believe that only a husband and wife can truly make love whereas anyone can simply have sex.

Love-making is a celebration that focuses on the spiritual connection that exists between a man and woman who are united in God’s vision of marriage.

Sex can be dirty, violent, or used as a weapon. Love-making is a means of healing and expressing commitment to your spouse alone. It’s pleasure and trust rolled into one.

Now, if you’ve been married a while, you know that not every night is going to be earth-shattering. There are times where the physical side to your relationship will be just—meh. But make it a point to set aside time to make love and reinforce the spiritual connection that exists between you both.
