A few years ago, Lois and I were overseas and we bumped into a couple who’s relationship was struggling—and I mean, struggling. They were both great people with all the potential for an awesome marriage, but they had never communicated what they both wanted from their relationship and what they were willing to change to make that happen.
In keeping with our Marriage Monday tip, everything begins with a conversation. Make sure that you are your spouse are in sync with what you need to change in your relationship and the other parts of your life (Christianity, finances, extended family etc…)
Remember, marriage is the one institution that encompasses every other area of your life.
It affects your finances, the education of your children, your relationships with other people—and the list goes on.
Before January 31st, dedicate at least an hour to having a frank, open conversation about what you’d like to see happen in the spiritual, financial, and relationship aspects of your life. Make sure you both speak and listen.
Write down the main objective for each part of your life. Then, set aside another hour in the next week to talk about how you’ll accomplish those goals.
Together, you can make 2020 your best year yet!
-Joseph
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
