“Couples who work together learn how to take stress not as a personal attack but as a challenge they can take on together. The key to growth and enrichment in marriage is in discovering ways to convey, “I understand how you feel and I’m going to do my best to meet your needs. I love you, and I’ll be around forever.”
― Kevin Leman, 7 Things He’ll Never Tell You
Communicating and showing this to your spouse is one of the best ways to show that you are a teammate. You are not there to point out the failures or mistakes of your spouse but to face each challenge, mistake, and difficult situation together. Doing so creates a close-knit bond between the two of you.
Show support to your spouse through words and actions. This is an important need that most husbands tend to have.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV) shows the effect our words should have. “…Encourage one another and build each other up..”.
Let the words you say to your spouse be those that lift up and not those that tear down.
