Body Images

Did you know that 89% of American women are unhappy with their weight? (Source below)

On a day to day basis we are constantly bombarded with images of women with “perfect bodies”! You see them on the billboards, in the grocery checkout lines, in the magazines delivered to your home, or online. We often compare our bodies to those “perfectly designed ones”. When we do that it causes us to become unhappy and dissatisfied with our own bodies which also effects our self esteem.

In the Book of Psalms David says, ” I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

If we are wonderfully made by God why should we not be happy with the bodies we have?

A recent study also showed that the more women are content with their body image the happier they are in general.

What’s  holding you back from being happy with your body? Is it weight you never lost from pregnancies, or from bad eating habits, or perhaps you think your breasts are too big/small? Whatever the reason my question to you is: What are you going to DO about it?

If seeing the numbers on that scale gets you down then work to change it! Change your eating patterns, exercise, and set a REALISTIC GOAL for yourself. Try to keep your goals within reach. If you set your goal to lose 30 lbs you’ll  probably give up before you get anywhere near that number. Set an ULTIMATE goal and set a REALISTIC goal. Meeting your realistic goal (like losing 5-10lbs) will help motivate you to reach your ultimate goal.

Have you tried weight loss before? Don’t give up!  Keep working at it!  Find an exercise buddy if it will help keep you on track.

If you are not concerned about your weight but wish parts of your body was  “like this” or “like that” just remember that you are wonderfully made. God made you the way you are! Be happy with the way He made you!

The confidence you have about yourself also reflects itself in the bedroom.  If you are more confident about the way you look it can improve the sexual intimacy between you and your husband. He’s not thinking about how big your thighs are or that you should not have had that last slice of cake! He’ll notice if you are confident about yourself, especially if  YOU take the initiative!

As wives, we should also try to look the best that we can for our husbands. They too are constantly faced with unwanted images of inappropriately dressed women on a daily basis. You are the only woman your husband wants to see,  touch,  or feel.

Remember, to have a body like that woman on the magazine cover is impossible. That image has been edited so many times to try to make her look “perfect”. The woman herself doesn’t even look like that in reality.

You are wonderfully made..just the way God wants you to be! That’s a reality.
